Jonathon Carbon of Shorewood earned his bachelor's degree in management of information systems from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in February. He is employed with WorkWise in Menomonee Falls as the information technology director.

Roxanne Kruger of Shorewood made the fall semester dean's list at Carthage College in Kenosha.

Leah Hoogstra of Brown Deer made the fall semester dean's list at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The following students made the fall semester dean's and president's lists at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design: from Bayside, Margaret Kim and Ryan Ward; from Mequon, Lauren Howie Laur, Julianna Koch and Emily Joerres; from Theinsville, Sarah Meadors; and from Whitefish Bay, Madeleine Schweitzer.

Paul Gallo, a senior from Shorewood, led a group of fellow Marquette University students to Benton Harbor, Mich., over spring break as a part of the Marquette Action Program. During the weeklong service trip, Gallo volunteered at the Readiness Center. Also, Kimberly Pham, a junior from Shorewood, traveled to Baltimore, Md., and volunteered at My Brother's Keeper.

SCHOOLSCENE

The following North Shore students each earned a $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship as a result of high test scores on the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test: from Nicolet High School in Glendale, Loren Wright of Bayside and Rachel Wilkinson of Milwaukee; and from University School of Milwaukee in River Hills, Adam Brostowicz II of Bayside, Nicole Flanary of Mequon, and Blaque Robinson of Milwaukee.

Nicolet senior Jackson Rickun earned the HAMP Foundation scholarship, which awards full tuition, room and board, books and fees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for four years. At Nicolet, Jackson has been active in theater and is a Buddy in the Friendship Circle program, a four-year member of the Student Council and one of the yearbook editors.

SERVICENEWS

Lindsay Bjorkman of Brown Deer has been promoted to the rank of sergeant first class in the Michigan Army National Guard. Bjorkman is the senior medic with the Taylor-based 177th Military Police Brigade. A member of the National Guard for 11 years, she has attended numerous schools, including the Military Police Academy and Healthcare Specialist School. Bjorkman is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During her tour, she served as a military police officer. During her military career, Bjorkman has received numerous awards, including the Army Commendation Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal. In civilian life, she works for Manor Care Pewaukee as a registered nurse supervisor.
