The Brown Deer Library is Still Closed Today

The Brown Deer Library experienced flooding in the basement the morning of Thursday April 9th. The water was diligently removed by Village DPW staff within an hour of discovery despite heavy demands on their resources by other residents in need. Sump pumps were unable to remove the large amount of water that quickly entered the sump pit.

Though no library materials were damaged, 7 furnaces have been affected by standing water. The basement has partially dried overnight, and technicians are working on diagnosing the extent of repairs needed to the HVAC equipment.
Until further notice, the Brown Deer Library will be closed to the public. Partial days of opening to the public may be instituted when interior temperatures reach 65 degrees, or as soon as primary furnaces can be operational to maintain adequate interior temperatures.
