The Brown Deer Police Department would like to remind the motoring public to be mindful of the increased children in and around school zones as well as children walking to and from school.  This is especially important now because due to construction that is occurring at the high school and will continue to occur in the area in the area of the schools. Numerous construction vehicles will continue to be in the area and motorists are being asked to slow down and make sure they are paying close attention.

The Brown Deer Police Department will continue paying extra attention to the school zones and we want the motoring public to be aware of the following changes:

Speed Limit Change:

As many of you have probably already noticed, the speed limit on North 60th Street was lowered from 35 MPH to 30 MPH in June of this year.  This was due in large part to speeding autos near the school campus and vehicle vs. pedestrian accidents in the area.

New Crosswalk:

There is a new crosswalk being constructed on North. 60th Street at West Tower Drive.  There are several traffic barricades at this location and there is also a crossing guard at this location before and after school.  Motorists approaching this area should look for pedestrian traffic and be prepared to stop when signaled by the crossing guard.

School Parking Lot Traffic Patterns:

Motorists who are utilizing the Brown Deer High School and Brown Deer Middle School parking lots will notice new traffic patterns in these parking lots.

Parents dropping off students(s) at the Middle School in the morning will drop them off using the parking lot on the south side of the school.  Parents can enter and exit this parking lot on North 60th Street.  School buses will drop students off using the driveway in front of the Middle School entering and exiting from West Dean Road.

Parents dropping off students at the High School will enter the parking lot from North 60th Street using the middle entrance to the parking lot.  This entrance is now designated for one-way traffic only.  Once in the parking lot, drive towards the school and drop your student(s) off in the designated area and then continue around the rear of the parking lot and exit onto North 60th Street using the entry/exit closets to the school administration building (far north drive way).  School buses will be dropping students off in the parking lot on the south side of the building and will enter this parking lot from West Bradley Road.

Students who are driving and parking their vehicle in the high school parking lot can enter/exit the parking lot from North 60th Street using the middle entrance or the entry/exit near the school administration building (far north drive way).
