PROBLEM IS GREED, NOT TAXES

Boo!  The tax spooks are everywhere.  High taxes, government interference, socialized medicine, unpatriotic, labor unions and myriad of other scare tactics are used to camouflage the real problem facing America's economy: corporate and individual greed.  Your economic and health care future is bleak because of one major reason: dishonest capitalism...not all capitalism, dishonest and greed-laden capitalism.

Do you know how many bankruptcies are due to medical bills?  Yet when it comes to solving this horrible problem by using single-payer health care, the insurance and pharmaceutical giants pull out their biggest guns [money] and scare you and buy politicians.  No other industrialized country in the world has anything other than a single-payer system.  Fiscal ruin because of medicine and health care is unique to the United States.  Are all the other industrialized nations wrong?  No, we are the one that is out of step.  If you want to know the truth about national insurance, ask somebody who actually lived in one of those countries; do not listen to the propaganda of the greedy insurance and pharmaceutical money-grabbers.  As one of my friends said after living in a country that actually DID have socialized medicine: when I get back to the U.S. my doctor is going to hear from me; I have never been treated with such dignity and concern as in this foreign country.

Why all this fear in the term "socialized medicine" anyway?  We have a socialized library system, a socialized police force, a socialized fire department, a socialized military, a socialized parks service.

Most politicians who are bought and sold by corporate greed are one-trick ponies: taxes are bad, competition is good.  Of course they would say that, their pockets are being lined with billions from special treatment by a government that is owned by corporations.  What we have, in a sense, is socialized greed for the few.

Without taxes you would be living in a societal hell.  The high-sounding people who brandish their religion on their sleeve announce openly that they are against taxes.  However these same hypocrites have many "moral" statements that result in costing society billions of dollars and/or neglecting unwanted children.  If you truly support something, please be prepared to support paying for it.  Otherwise you are just a lot of self-engrandizing hot air.  Please act responsibly, and that may mean a responsible tax increase.

Yes, some people on the public dole take advantage of it.  That is horrible.  But let me ask you who has stolen more from you and the American citizenry: public employees or greedy corporate people in the private sector?  Bernie Madoff alone stole over $50 billion dollars from innocent people, many of them religious individuals and organizations.  Think of the people now losing their homes because of unscrupulous business practices.  How about bank presidents who failed their banks?  Auto executives who were more interested in making money than turning out cars that served people and society?

If we ever want to realize the promise of America again, we need a single-payer, national health insurance.  And we need to somehow take the overwhelming greed out of our brand of capitalism  The wealth produced by the American people is so great that we can experience a true Renaissance if we do those two things.  It will not be easy.  And the transition may cost us some taxes.  But the end result will mean much, much more for the vast majority of American citizens.  And it will result in lowering the cost of government and health care for everyone.  Demand it!  The time is NOW.
