GOODBYE 2008 & NEOCON BOTTOM-FEEDERS
Through the malaise and fog of neocon and right-wing judgmentalism of the past decades, it is time to take stock of where we are as a nation and as a people.
"Trust us," said the right-wingers, "all this growing fortune will trickle down." It trickled all right, in fact there was a gusher that flooded the entire nation in debt and financial destruction.
"Your president is not a crook," yelled Richard Nixon. He was one and more.
"We have to lift the restricting regulations on America's business and finances," preached Ronald Reagan. This was the beginning of the end. You have to give him credit for creative financing though. Look at how he financed the illegal Contra activity in Nicaragua; he secretly did it with Iran's help.
"Voodoo economics," commented George Bush I, about Ronald Reagan's dangerous economic plan. Yet he rode it right into the White House.
And when Bill Clinton won two terms as president, the howls were loud, clear, judgmental, and very pious. Yes, Clinton was a slime-ball, but he was clearly out done by the Republican charlatans. Newt Gingrich was holier-than-thou about Clinton's secret affair with a young staffer. But little did we know at the time that Gingrich was having some little trysts with equally-young staffers. And who chaired the House impeachment process? Why, Congressman Henry Hyde who wore a polished halo until it was revealed that he had fooled around and committed adultery. When Gingrich stepped aside, the first man chosen to replace him as Speaker of the House turned out to be an adulterer who had to step aside.
Then we had George W. Bush wait for the Supreme Court to over-rule the American voters and declare the Republican candidate President. And he inherited Clinton's surplus budget. Bush made quick work of destroying that budget. And when hit with the tragedy of 9-11, the U.S. populace stood firmly in support of President Bush. He deceived us that there had been no warning about that terror attack when even an FBI agent warned about it beforehand. And he drew us farther into hell by illegally invading a sovereign nation that had nothing to do with 9-11. The loss of American men and women in that illegal war is inexcusable. What the Iraq War and horrible mismanagement have done to the economy will haunt us for generations. The man who paraded about as a "family man" and man with high Christian principles, has laid a heavy burden on our children and grandchildren while lying to us over and over. What has been kept from the American people can only be imagined, when we realize Bush approved torture, holding people for years without charging them, setting up internationally-abhorred prisons, snooped on innocent Americans, etc.
Perhaps one of the worst legacies of these pathetically immoral neocons is the loss of faith in the United States by even our friends abroad. We have become the scourge of the earth to many. And we sit here loaded down with a dangerously flawed economy. Both our domestic and foreign policies are in a shambles. And all this was brought on with lies, deception, favors to big business, mistakes in judgment, military adventures, and in the case of George W. Bush himself, stupidity. But his challenged aptitude cannot excuse him from making these horrible and devious decisions. Nor should he be excused from surrounding himself with people of dubious intent. Goodbye to all of you right-wing, Bible-pounding, lying, greed-capitalists. Yes, we hope the Republican Party can re-build itself to once again be a political party with a minimum of honor and integrity.
Now let us rally behind our new president-elect. His task is enormous. Let us hope he is equal to the task. Let's give him a chance to turn this giant ship around.
