Presidential politics, Christian hypocrisy, bigotry
What is especially unique about the 2008 presidential campaigns is that not only the usual Christian hypocrisy is at play, but with an African-American candidate in the process, Christian bigotry is also playing an important role.
The usual suspects are very much in the hypocritical mix. Some new Christian ministers are also in the group. We have had several elections in which "ordained" Christians have led the hypocritical charge: Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, right wing Baptists, evangelicals, etc. Playing an important role in 2008 are also egomaniacs such as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Jeremiah Wright. Religious principles are absent with these charlatans; ego and money rule all of them.
However lurking and slithering in the grass are bigoted snakes who are trumping up lies and deception against Barack Obama. While Obama is a patriotic, Christian American with a commendable set of values, the bigots are portraying him as a devious Moslem with a dangerous wife. Compare this married couple with the likes of Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and George W. Bush. The latter groups flourished on lies, deception, and greed, while, of course, "witnessing" to the high Christian values. Barack and Michelle Obama actually do hold to high values, the Reagans and Bushes did not.
It is up to us to step forward in this sewage being put out about Obama and call out these bigots and liars. Christianity, especially the bent kind, has no place in these secret campaigns of lies and deception. And when you encounter such deviation, confront the perpetrators. Be a true patriot, demand historical accuracy and fairness in this presidential campaign.
