ANTI-INTELLECTUALISM RULES RIGHT-WING
Six right-wing members of Congress want Secretary of State Clinton's assistant to be investigated for "connections to the Moslem Brotherhood." The assistant in question is from a Moslem family. However she is married to a Jew, has proven herself over and over to be a loyal American, and even had U.S. Senator John McCain come to her defense, as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives [both Republicans]. But the right-wing in America is out-of-control. It strongly frames its message and aims it at the most anti-intellectual individuals and groups in the U.S.
The aim of these anti-intellectual people is to confuse issues, lie, deceive for the benefit of the greediest and richest people, seek additional and ongoing benefits for the rich and greedy corporations, divide and conquer, and discredit scientific evidence when it is not supportive of their greed, cloak war greed in the dress of patriotism and loyalty, etc. That was the same formula used in Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy in the 1930s and 1940s. Let's call this political formulation for what it is: Fascism.
Though over 95% of reputable scientists strongly agree that humans are causing climate change, you can always find ignorance, or people paid off to mouth some other belief, or people with a hidden agenda. To discredit overwhelming scientific assurances is an anti-intellectual action in itself. Most common among the "enlightened" critics are scientists out of their realm of study, and people who confuse climate change to mean "weather." The planet can be warming, and there is overwhelming evidence it is, the very change in temperatures cause fronts and movements of air to change, and thus warm fronts are pushed or pulled to move onto different areas and weather to be affected [cold or warm]. But that is not climate change; it may be one evidentiary aspect of it, but it is not climate change. Huge glaciers melting worldwide is evidence of climate change. Overall planet temperature changes is evidence of climate change. A big snowstorm is not. The climate of the planet is warming, and humans are responsible for most of it. That is factual. Recognizing the fact that humans are causing disasterous climate change means industry will have to change the way it operates. Greed is short-sighted and thinks ecology is anti-business, but the opposite is true in the long run, and in the short run it will also provide many new jobs. Greed runs deep. Profit at all costs is far too often the unspoken slogan of the military-industrial complex. And all those costs are the burden of the poor and middle class. Look what is happening.
Fascists and right-wingers are good at confusing issues, using lies and deceptions, etc. because they have been at it for many years. Hitler, through Goebbels, was an expert at lying to the people so that Krupp, Messerschmidt, and Farben could fluorish. Using the media to tell these lies and deceptions can be very effective. Use of the media to influence and impact millions of Americans costs a great deal of money. Guess which political grouping has the most money? Neither side is immune from using huge sums of money, but make no mistake about it, the right is where the real political clout lies and where the most money is. Immense sums of money have been spent and much more will be spent to confuse, lie, distort, etc.
These are all part of the attack on education in America. Costs for higher education are becoming out of the reach of too many poor and middle class Americans. This is how the right-wing wants it. If you learn to know the truth about climate change, you will demand change from industry. So keep education just for us inner-circle, rich, comfy cliques of Americans. Why do the majority of other Americans need all that education? Governor Scott Walker didn't need it and look how he has become a hero of the right-wing.
Greed rules in America. Ignorance is good for greedy industry. Enlightenment and insight are threats to greed corporations, war corporations, and tax-sheltered materialism. The more you know, the greater danger you pose for greedy leaders and industrialists. Shut up and accept your plight in life. Shut up and show your patriotism. Shut up and do what you are told by the right-wing. Mostly, just shut up.
