TEA PARTY "Patriots"
Oh, how patriotic are those Tea Party Republicans. How quick they are to join in the celebration of our military veterans ..............as long as they're Republicans, and the "right kind" of Republicans.
The sham of the Tea Party patriots was clearly unmasked in the heated Illinois fight for Congress between Congressman Joe Walsh and Democrat Tammy Duckworth. A woman who is a Democrat running against a man who is a Tea Party Republican. She is a proud candidate, he is a sexist double-talker.
Incumbent Walsh, who never served in the military, has been critical of Tammy Duckworth over and over, never backing down from his chastising her for bringing up her over 20 years of service in the U.S. Army in the campaign. What? Yes, Walsh insists that it is unfair for her to repeat her long military career as she campaigns. Imagine if a Democrat who had never served in the military criticized a Republican veteran for anything; how would that be treated. It reveals the lies, distortions, double-standards, and highly-selective patriotism of the Tea Party and the current Republican Party.
The double-standard of today's Republicans is carried this way as their standard in all their campaigns. Look no further than their leading standard bearer, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. Good old Mitt has two cornerstones in his campaign:
1. Creating jobs.
2. Criticizing Obamacare
And he campaigns with a straight face! No matter that Romney's business career specialized in taking over companies, and in an effort to lower operating costs before re-selling for a profit, many jobs were jetisoned. Never mind that it was Romney as Governor of Massachusetts who personally and strongly advocated for a health care program that is a carbon copy of today's Obamacare. In fairness to Mr. Romney it should be pointed out the the people of Massachusetts love Romney/Obamacare, and it is functioning very well, thank you. But Mitt has to distance himself from that great success, lest he be thrown to the wolves by his Republican supporters. Double-standard. Lies. Deception. Pathetic.
I don't know if the United States can survive this kind of patriotism.
P.S. For you extremely "strong" patriotic tea partiers: Ms. Duckworth is a veteran AND an amputee. Imagine all the strong guys who would criticize her ...especially a non-veteran like Walsh. Whatever happened to real men?
