SUPREME COURT ROBERTS MADE RIGHT-WING VOTE
The media totally missed the point. When the Supreme Court voted 5-4 to "uphold" Obamacare, it was heralded as an amazing act. Chief Justice Roberts cast his vote with the so-called liberals on the Court. Amazing? No. What is amazing is that the media unilaterally and almost unanimously declared it a victory for Obama, a liberal vote by conservative Justice Roberts, and totally unanticipated.
The truth is that Chief Justice Roberts did two things, neither of them voting with liberals. He prevented the Court from once again being labeled a conservatively politicized branch [as in the Bush v. Gore decision], and more importantly, he gave the Republican Party a great deal of leverage to use the decision in the November presidential campaign. How?
The Obama lawyers' main argument in the Court was that the government had the right to force a penalty on anyone who did not have health insurance. Their main argument further based this on the right that the federal government has to regulate and enforce interstate commerce, and the health care bill was a program of interstate commerce. The Supreme Court dismissed that argument. The government lawyers also said, timidly, that it could be considered a tax penalty, and the government has the right to levy taxes. On the tax issue, Roberts found a scheme to put an onus on Obama.
The liberals and conservatives, other than Chief Justice Roberts, came down tied, 4-4. Roberts broke the tie and it has been seen as a victory for President Obama. Wrong! It was a shrewd move by Chief Justice Roberts, who voted as a right-wing lackey. That's right, Roberts supported the "Obamacare is a new tax" argument. What a welcome that is for the Republicans! A new tax. How do you think that will play out in the upcoming election?
While the Democrats dance around in celebration, they are being taken to the cleaners by a skillful move by a loyal Republican Chief Justice. Now you will hear right-wing advocate ads and messages about Obama creating new and more taxes. Taxes are the third rail of politics today. Taxes, taxes, taxes.
I am disturbed in many ways by the stupid actions of the liberals in thinking they "won" on this Supreme Court vote. Not having a clue about the reality of the situation shows to me that they have no insight, no understanding, no smarts. I am also disturbed that the media totally misinterpreted this Court decision Therefore I am left with this scenario about my country: it is being run by bumpkins, and the media has no clue. That does not give me hope for the future of America.

The Republicans can't wait to use the "new taxes" issue to win the White House and Congress, and then repeal almost all of Obamacare.
