With the primary season finally winding down, the presidential candidates will finally be able to go head-to-head for the next six months. It's going to be interesting and it's going to be ugly. It's going to be inspiring and it's going to be negative. It will be a time to remember and a lot to forget.
Perhaps President Obama will be able to run on his record. He can think back to when Americans were all inspired in the year 2008. It was the time when we were all ready for hope and change. Well, the change is here and the hope is gone.
Can we afford another four years of a Barack Obama presidency? Let's take a look at the changes that the country has gone through: fewer Americans are now working. With the population still growing, that means there are more people dependent on government assistance for their day-to-day living. This doesn't sound too inspiring to me. How about the price of gas? Has it doubled for you? People from the administration have been touting supply and demand for how it affects the price of gas. However, the president has done all he can to reduce energy exploration and the drilling of oil here in the United States. This will only increase our dependence on foreign oil. Vice President Joe Biden has asked the Saudis to increase their production of oil so that we can buy more. Is this going to lead to independence of foreign oil? Again, I don't think so.
How about that job market? Is there more or less opportunity in the working world today? To the races he receive help you to raise your standard of living? Or are used for King over more and more money in taxes? Has your health insurance costs going down? President Obama spent the first two years of his presidency trying to pass a universal entitlement. As this helped to reduce costs? No, and the entitlement is going to cost twice what it was originally sold to us as. And once it is implemented in two years, are we going to be able to look forward to a better quality? Can anyone honestly answer yes to this?
How about the level of spending in government? The federal government keep spending like there's no tomorrow. 1,000,000,000,000 1/2 dollars is now added annually to the national debt. One would think that with the level of spending that high, prosperity and happy days would be here. But yet we keep hearing about how bad and how fragile the economy actually is.
President Obama claims that electing Republicans will take us back to the policies that got us into this mess. Well, the present policies are not getting us out. This is the new normal? Are we prepared to start another recession with 8% unemployment? Can we spend another four years blaming someone else for the problems in this country? Are we to accept mediocrity as the best we can do? No, it's only the best this administration can do. It's time to get optimistic again, America. It's time for a change. It's time for a new president.
