What is going on in Wisconsin? First, the Brewers were supposed to win it all this year. They didn't make it to the World Series. How about the Wisconsin Badgers? They lost in the Rose Bowl for the second year in a row. And last weekend, the Green Bay Packers gave everyone in the state to sour stomach. They had a championship caliber season and lost in the first round of the playoffs.
But the real debacle in Wisconsin is what is going on politically. Yes, the state budget is being balanced on the back of the state workers. You're being asked to pay hundreds of dollars per paycheck that they have not paid in many years. And a big change like that is certainly hard to get used to. But, let's not lose sight of the fact that taxes are not going up. Unfortunately, the tax-and-spend liberals cannot accept that as reality.
Today, the news reports are showing all of the people bringing in their petitions to recall the governor, Scott Walker. Ad all those lefties are being cheered as he walked through the crowd with boxes on their head. The schoolchildren should be embarrassed by this. Yet this is the group that wants to be in charge of the state government again. What's their agenda? Higher taxes of course, more money wasted, and higher deficits to be followed by even more taxes. The state employees union is not going to get back what they have already lost. Oh, they may have a union, but they're still going to be paying hundreds of dollars per month in health insurance. They're still going to be contributing to their retirements. The high-speed gravy train will not be returning to Wisconsin.
What about these 1 million signatures? Anybody could've foretold that they would have 1 million signatures. All the people collecting signatures for petitions probably spend two hours a night writing names on them. But if you back out everyone who signed their name as Mickey Mouse, Adolf Hitler, etc. The total will be much less.
Now all we have to look forward to is a summer full of negative advertisements. I had enough last year with the disaster from Sandy Paasch. I'm still not convinced this is progress.
