IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD...

...and the word was "hope."  But President Obama lost his way.  His staff choices were atrocious.  He brought in Wall Streeters.  He brought in second-level people and ignored the real experts [i.e. immediately should have chosen Paul Volcker].  He thought it was enough to make promising, hopeful speeches.  He maintained far,far too many of George W. Bush's mistakes (and they were horrendous ones).  Obama did not deliver on promises.  His early inexperience was obvious.  Now he is trying to straighten it all out.  Too late?

However it has to be pointed out that he inherited a real mess.  A social, economic, and political mess.  George W. Bush gave away the United States to greedy corporate interests.  And these interests stood on the sidelines quietly, spewed out nonsensical religious themes, manipultated the federal government to do the bidding of huge financial and corporate interests, and caused the virtual collapse of the United States.  Meanwhile the right-wing, greedy, money-grabbers never were charged and never once admitted what they had done to this country.  But they knew the religious messages that the right-wing took in hook, line, and sinker.  Now saddled with the George W. Bush catastrophe, President Obama has had to learn.  But it has cost the United States dearly.

If we simply did not invade Iraq, our economy would be in much better shape.  It has not only been the cost of the military operations, it has been billions and billions spent to create a new, false nation of Iraq.  And the cost to rehabilitate our brave veterans will be with us for many, many years.  Couple that with the arrogant, greedy tax breaks for the wealthiest in America, and you have the recipe for bringing down the U.S.  Please remember, our invasion of Iraq was not only illegal, it was based on lies concocted by the Bush team long before he took office as President.

The REAL reason for all this can be seen in minor news stories buried in the nation's daily newspapers   The alarm never goes off.  The media never pays attention to the accumulated greed that caused us to invade Iraq.  The ongoing collusion by America's military-industrial complex seems camouflaged.

Here is the reason we invaded Iraq [and got mixed up in military operations around the world].  The following is a tiny news clip deep inside a daily newspaper this week...

"Iraq has signed an estimated $3 billion deal to buy 18 fighter jets from the United States,  officials said Thursday, in a measure aimed at protecting its air space alone after years of relying on help from American pilots."

Tomrrow it will be a deal to buy American tanks.  The next day it will be guns and ammunition from American industries.  Then road construction equipment.  Next will come another sweetheart deal for American oil companies.  And so it goes.  We go deeper in debt, but selected American greed corporations reap huge profilts for war, legal or illegal.
