If you don't know why to choose Sandy Pasch over Alberta Darling in the up-coming recall election, you simply have not been paying attention. It is not about political parties. It is not even about political philosophies. It is about Alberta Darling's actions showing herself unfit to hold office.
Her recent TV ads, financed by out-of-state political power groups, are atrocious. She tries to paint Sandy Pasch as against helping vets or their families. She tries through deceptive image and non- factual presentation to try and show Pasch as unpatriotic. If anyone is unpatriotic, it is Alberta Darling. She has turned herself into an undemocratic and unethical liar and deceptor.
Who is Alberta Darling? She once served in a leadership role in Planned Parenthood. Now, because she finds it expedient to do so, she has become a leader against women's reproductive health and rights
Alberta Darling, as co-chair of the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee, has led the fight to gut $800 million from the state's public education. As Sandy Pasch put it, "[Darling is] going to make the children of Wisconsin carry the burden." Disgusting.
Darling has led the fight to freeze new enrollments in the Family Care program for frail elderly.
Darling led the fight for $500 million in unspecified cuts to programs in health care. These cuts are aimed at affecting some of the state's most vulnerable people.
Darling openly wants to end Medicare as we know it, and throw it to the "mercy" of private insurance companies. Supporting the greediest corporations is a Darling emblem.
Darling was a leader in raising taxes on the poor via cuts in the state earned income and homestead credits.
Almost everything not to like in the current state budget, and almost all of the most draconian cuts for the poor, elderly, and vulnerable citizens of the state were a part of Alberta Darling's leadership role.
On the other hand, Sandy Pasch has led the fight in the Assembly for programs far more in keeping with Wisconsin's rich and unique history and heritage. She shepherded through the Assembly the 2010 law, for example, that requires insurance companies to cover mental health and drug and alcohol treatments at the same level as for other conditions.
When you go to the polls on AUGUST 9th, vote for Sandy Pasch. And please remember, this election is on August 9th, not on a later date that Darling supporters lied about to keep people from the polls. That's just like running fake Democrats against Sandy Pasch to force a primary so Darling could have more time to raise money from out-of-state groups and wealthy individuals. Alberta Darling is the darling of the richest people and corporations who, in Darling's budget, get tax breaks while poor people see their taxes raised.
