TRUTH ABOUT BUDGET SOLUTIONS
Our taxes in the United States are lower than any industrialized nation in the world, except Japan.
Our taxes in the U.S. are lower than at any time since 1950.
Lowering taxes for the wealthiest Americans and for corporations does NOT create jobs. This has been proven over and over and over, and especially in actions taken in 1937 and during the Bush years.
We cannot solve the budget problems facing us by only lowering spending. Economists agree on this.
The right-wing puppets of the wealthy and big corporations tell us that the U.S. corporations are over-taxed, and over-regulated. This is blatantly not true. The most economically successful nations in the world [i.e. Germany] have much higher taxes on corporations and individuals. Germany has a population that is one-fourth that of the U.S., yet Germany, with all its taxes and many regulations, exports more than the U.S. Repeat: Germany taxes both its people and its corporations far more than is done in the U.S. And Germany has far more regulations on its corporations. Yet Germany, with one-quarter the population of the U.S. exports more goods and services than does the U.S.
For Republicans to state that there will be no more revenue-enhancements [taxes] is to hold every American hostage. If we default because we do not raise the debt ceiling, who do you think will suffer most? The big corporations who have off-shore offices? The big corporations who produce their products in slave-labor, foreign nations? The big corporations that make military products and are used and wasted in record amounts by politicians who are bought and paid for? No! The poor and middle class will once again take the brunt of the catastrophic result of a default on the federal debt limit.
With all the facts honestly and truthfully and factually stated above, when is it time for the wealthiest Americans and the biggest corporations to step forward and help the United States of America? Yes, of course, there will be plenty of cuts in federal spending. That has already been established. That is a given. But do the wealthiest Americans and the biggest corporations carry any responsibility here? Any? Where are the real Americans?
