MURDOCH/FOX CAUGHT AGAIN!
We have all smiled as FOX and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, tell us how objective their news reporting is. We see the slanted and unprofessional news reporting daily on FOX. We see Republican presidential hopefuls posing as political commentators on FOX. We know where Rupert Murdoch's political money goes.
Since Rupert Murdoch brought his right-wing news machine to America, professional journalism has taken a big hit. Any pretense of objectivity left the country when he came here. This is obvious to anyone who actually knows what objective, professional journalism is. But the masks came off long ago. The hangers-on to the fairy tale of FOX's objectivity can believe in a flat earth if they wish.
From www.squable.com/news/032011/ru: "Rupert Murdoch's right-wing empire just took a HUGE blow in the courts!! BIG NEWS COMING.
"Rupert Murdoch. aside from owning FOX News and the Wall Street Journal has also managed to scoop up a large portion of Britain's newspapers. Well, it ends up Murdoch's papers have been hacking the phones of the liberal politicians and using the info gleaned to chase them out of office, ruin their character, etc.
"Rupert Murdoch has been able to keep things quiet with a few huge payoffs and by having many of the investigating policemen paid off by the newspapers by hiring them as writers, etc. Well, the whole mess is unraveling...details that the hacking by just ONE investigator might have tallied up over 4000 people, several of Murdoch's top employees have been implicated up to the right hand man of the Conservative Prime Minister. But throughout this entire debacle one thing has kept Murdoch's papers safe...the police have refused to share the information that they discovered in this one investigator's house.
"Murdoch has already been sued by 5 or 6 peeps and it cost him close to a million dollars per lawsuit, settled out of court, with an agreement of silence so nobody has got to see the evidence. If all 4000 people sue...times a million bucks a piece...even Murdoch will not be able to hold onto his entire company. Since there has been several big checks written for hush money even Murdoch's son might be sued like crazy since he OK'd the payoffs (most likely)."
From http://billionaires.forbes.com/article/OD3c:
"London - In an astonishing about-turn, Rupert Murdoch's News International has admitted responsibility for illegally phone-hacking by reporters on its Sunday tabloid The News of the World, issuing an 'unreserved apology' to those involved." [more reported in the Hollywood Reporter]
In "Bloomberg": "Rupert Murdoch's News International said it will settle lawsuits and offer compensation to some of the celebrities and politicians that have sued the News of the World newspaper for phone hacking."
In the N.Y. Times: 'London- Scotland Yard said Tuesday that two men had been arrested for questioning as part of its renewed probe into the illegal hacking of private voice-mail messages by The News of the World, the Rupert-Murdoch - owned..."
From "This Is Money": "18 March20ss, 8:10am in a US writ , Rupert Murdoch was accused of using the media conglomerate as a 'wholly-owned family candy store' with the purchase of the 'Spooks' and 'Ashes to Ashes' producer..." [this refers to a legal suit that is different than the phone-hacking, but he is being sued by stockholders...and it is quoted below]
From The London Evening Standard [standard.com], March 17, 2011 issue:
"News Corp. boss Rupert Murdoch's 415 million [pound sterling] takeover of his daughter Elisabeth's London TV firm Shine today took a dramatic twist as US investors sued, claiming it is a poor deal that smacked of 'nepotism.' Lawyers representing several News Corp. shareholders said in filings to a US court that Murdoch was treating the company 'like a wholly owned family candy store.' They added: 'Although the transaction makes little or no business sense for News Corp and is far above any independent, disinterested third party would pay for Shine, it is unsurprising that the transaction was approved by News Corp's board." [Rupert's daughter, Elizabeth, will net close to 200 million Pounds].
OK, these are just tidnits from the past several weeks concerning Rupert Murdoch and his sprawling empire. He will stop and nothing to make a poliltical statement or maximize his profit. But ...but ...but ...but ...but FOX is an objective and reliable and honorable news organization. Now ask yourself: what would the right-wing be saying if this happened at MSNBC or CNN?
