Consider this a WFB Holiday gift suggestion, or shameless plug .. I care not. I think this is awesome.
Whitefish Bay now has its very own history book. Tom Fehring, rock-star Trustee and Historic Preservation Commission member .. is now an author.
If you were trying to figure out a holiday gift for someone who lives in Bay .. this is a no-brainer.
Cost? $20, a good portion of which will be pumped back into the HPC.
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will be selling these books at WFB's Holiday Stroll, 5-8pm, this Friday in front of Breadsmith. -- I think if you mention Village Spillage, you get a free handshake with purchase.
From the official release:
Fehring has selected the best images from the hundreds of pictures in the Whitefish Bay Historical Society's extensive photographic archives -- many of which were never before published -- to narrate this visual voyage, charting the course of a lovely backwater transformed into a vibrant and inviting community.
- Proceeds from the book are being donated back to Whitefish Bay's historic preservation activities.
- The majority of the images were obtained from the extensive collection assembled by former Whitefish Bay historian Mimi Bird, from the files of the Whitefish Bay Historical Society, and from numerous local residents, businesses, churches and schools.
If you can't buy it during the Holiday Stroll, you can get it online, plus $5 shipping, at http://WFBHistoricalSociety.ecrater.com
Tom and I will be walking in the Parade at 6pm .. Yell something at me, like "Village Spillage!" or "Let's Go Warriors!" or even ..
"Hey, fix my sewers!" "Merry Christmas!" and you may have some candy coming your way.
More info on the parade can be found here: http://www.wfbcivicfoundation.org
Oh, and any chance you can help keep the kids close to the curb during the parade? Wouldn't want Santa's reindeer running anyone over this year.
